Red Flag Warning issued March 29 at 2:03AM CDT until March 29 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Midland/Odessa TX ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY EVENING FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 15% OR LESS, 20-FT WINDS OF 20 MPH OR MORE, AND HIGH TO VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER ACROSS SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO, THE WESTERN PERMIAN BASIN, UPPER TRANS PECOS, DAVIS MOUNTAINS, DAVIS MOUNTAINS FOOTHILLS, AND CULBERSON COUNTY... * AFFECTED AREA...Gaines, Andrews, Loving, Winkler, Ward, Sacramento Foothills and Guadalupe Mountains, Chaves Plains, Eddy Plains, Lea, Guadalupe Mountains Above 7000 Feet, Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains, Van Horn and Highway 54 Corridor, Eastern Culberson County, Reeves County Plains, Davis Mountains and Davis Mountains Foothills. * TIMING...Friday afternoon through early Friday evening. * WINDS...West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 8 percent. * RFTI...5 or critical. * IMPACTS...Avoid the use of open flames or any activities that may generate sparks, such as outdoor burning or welding. Extinguish cigarettes in vehicles. Accidental ignitions will have the potential to grow into dangerous wind-driven wildfires. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will increase potential for fire growth.

High Wind Warning issued March 29 at 12:52AM MDT until March 29 at 6:00PM MDT by NWS Midland/Odessa TX * WHAT...West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. * WHERE...Guadalupe Mountains of west Texas and Southeast New Mexico. * WHEN...From noon MDT /1 PM CDT/ today to 6 PM MDT /7 PM CDT/ this evening. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles like campers, vans, and tractor trailers. Severe turbulence near the mountains will be hazardous for low flying light aircraft. Winds will be particularly hazardous at higher elevations where the strongest winds are likely to occur. Be especially careful driving in these mountainous areas. People driving high-profile vehicles should strongly consider postponing travel in these areas until the winds subside. Use caution if flying low near the mountains as severe turbulence is possible.
