Flood Watch issued July 3 at 8:32PM CDT until July 4 at 4:00AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Central Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Eastern Will, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, La Salle, Lake IL, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Southern Cook and Southern Will and northwest Indiana, including the following area, Lake IN. * WHEN...Until 4 AM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall from thunderstorms possible across the area this evening into the overnight. Rain rates in excess of 1 to 2 inches per hour over areas that have previously received heavy rainfall may lead to flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation. Flash Flood Warning issued July 3 at 10:41PM CDT until July 4 at 1:15AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL At 1041 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Up to 2 inches of rainfall has fallen so far. Additional rainfall in excess of 1 inch is possible, especially in northern Lake County. HAZARD...Flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and other poor drainage areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Oak Lawn, Calumet City, Roseland, South Shore, Englewood, Chicago Lawn, East Chicago, Schererville, Lansing, Highland, Blue Island, Munster, Alsip, Chatham, Auburn Gresham, Ashburn and New City. A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.

Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1003 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Some locations have already received rainfall from earlier storms, with additional thunderstorms moving into the area. Urban flooding of yards and roadways may begin shortly. - Some locations that may experience flooding include...
