Flood Watch issued June 21 at 11:48AM CDT until June 22 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following counties, Cowley and Sumner. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - An additional round of showers and storms producing heavy rain will be possible this afternoon, causing additional flooding. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Flood Warning issued June 21 at 2:25PM CDT until June 21 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Street flooding, county road flooding, and small stream flooding caused by last night's heavy rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following counties, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 900 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 225 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate between 3 and 6 inches of rain occurred last night across the warned area. This is causing flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, city streets, and other low-lying and flood- prone locations. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Derby, Arkansas City, Winfield, Haysville, Wellington, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Harper, Conway Springs, Oxford, Garden Plain, Udall, Pretty Prairie and Burden. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Walnut River at Winfield affecting Cowley and Butler Counties. Walnut River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Walnut River at Winfield. * WHEN...From this afternoon to Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Flood waters flow over County Road Cowley 2 west of the city of Rock. Then 4 miles northwest of Winfield, Cowley County Road 18 floods over a section just west of 71st Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 18.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.4 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage early Tuesday morning. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued late tonight at 230 AM CDT.
