Flood Watch issued June 25 at 11:17PM CDT until June 26 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Marion, McPherson and Rice. In east central Kansas, Chase. In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Flood Warning issued June 25 at 10:30PM CDT until June 29 at 3:15PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Kansas... Walnut River at Winfield affecting Cowley and Butler Counties. Walnut River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Kansas... Walnut River at Augusta affecting Cowley and Butler Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Walnut River at Arkansas City. * WHEN...From Friday morning to Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Considerable flooding of farmland is expected. Widespread flooding of the park just upstream of the gage site is anticipated. East Chestnut Avenue east of By-pass is closed due to water over roadway. Greens Farm Road floods between Highway 166 north to Dunbar Hill. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:15 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 11.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tomorrow morning to a crest of 20.5 feet Saturday evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Monday morning. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
