Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued June 13 at 3:02PM CDT until June 13 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 409 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 4 COUNTIES IN NORTHEAST KANSAS BROWN JACKSON JEFFERSON NEMAHA THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF GRANTVILLE, HIAWATHA, HOLTON, HORTON, MCLOUTH, MERIDEN, NORTONVILLE, OSKALOOSA, PERRY, SABETHA, SENECA, AND VALLEY FALLS.

Heat Advisory issued June 13 at 3:16AM CDT until June 13 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Heat index values of 100 to 110 expected. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and northeast Kansas. * WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
