At 509 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 25 knots. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 28 nm west of Duluth Harbor to 17 nm southwest of Barkers Island, moving northeast at 25 knots. Locations impacted include... Two Harbors Protected Access Agate Bay, Superior Entry, Knife River Marina, Brule Point, McQuade Harbor, Barkers Island, Superior Harbor, Larsmont, Duluth Harbor, Duluth Lift Bridge Channel, Stoney Point, and French River. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 25 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Dense fog was reducing visibilities to below 1 mile. Reduce your speed, and keep a lookout for other vessels, buoys, and breakwaters. Keep your navigation lights on. At 413 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated an area of strengthening thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located 34 nm west of Duluth Harbor, or 35 nm west of Duluth Lift Bridge Channel, moving northeast at 25 knots. They are expected to arrive into the Twin Ports Harbor area shortly after 5 PM this evening. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. This strong thunderstorm will likely produce winds to around 30 knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine warning may eventually be required when this strong thunderstorm reaches the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before this strong thunderstorm arrives.
