Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued July 2 at 6:08PM CDT until July 3 at 2:00AM CDT by NWS Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 443 IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM CDT FRIDAY FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN MINNESOTA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 9 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL MINNESOTA RENVILLE IN SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA BROWN MARTIN WATONWAN IN SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA REDWOOD IN WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA CHIPPEWA LAC QUI PARLE SWIFT YELLOW MEDICINE THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BENSON, FAIRMONT, GRANITE FALLS, MADISON, MONTEVIDEO, NEW ULM, OLIVIA, REDWOOD FALLS, AND ST JAMES.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 2 at 7:06PM CDT until July 2 at 7:30PM CDT by NWS Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN At 706 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from 13 miles northwest of Marietta to over Canby, or along a line from 46 miles west of Montevideo to 32 miles southwest of Montevideo, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and small hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. This severe thunderstorm will be near... Marietta and Canby around 710 PM CDT. Bellingham around 720 PM CDT. Madison and Dawson around 725 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by the severe thunderstorm include Florida Creek Wildlife Management Area, Nassau, St. Leo, Madison Airport and Providence. Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. These storms are capable of producing widespread damaging winds. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure.
