Flood Watch issued July 6 at 2:59AM EDT until July 6 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northern Delaware, including the following area, New Castle, New Jersey, including the following areas, Atlantic, Atlantic Coastal Cape May, Camden, Cape May, Coastal Atlantic, Coastal Ocean, Cumberland, Eastern Monmouth, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Northwestern Burlington, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Southeastern Burlington, Sussex, Warren and Western Monmouth, and Pennsylvania, including the following areas, Berks, Carbon, Delaware, Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Lehigh, Lower Bucks, Monroe, Northampton, Philadelphia, Upper Bucks, Western Chester and Western Montgomery. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional heavy showers and thunderstorms will impact the area today. Localized rain amounts of over 2 inches in an hour will be possible, leading to areas of flash flooding. Flash Flood Warning issued July 6 at 11:29AM EDT until July 6 at 3:15PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ At 1129 AM EDT, trained weather spotters reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain with Route 71 in Deal is closed. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. High tide is coming up which will also exacerbate impacts. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Trained spotters reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Long Branch, Asbury Park, Sandy Hook, Middletown, Howell, Marlboro, Tinton Falls, Holmdel, Red Bank, Keansburg, Matawan and Highlands. This includes the following highways... Interstate 195 in New Jersey between mile markers 33 and 34. Garden State Parkway between mile markers 98 and 122. Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Leonardo, Belmar, Atlantic Highlands, Monmouth Beach, Sea Bright, Sandy Hook Reef, and Fair Haven. Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes. Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water, stay below deck if possible and keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
