In western North Carolina, Avery, Burke Mountains, Caldwell Mountains, Eastern McDowell, Greater Burke, Greater Caldwell, McDowell Mountains, Mitchell and Yancey. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow-moving heavy rain showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected to continue across the Watch area this morning. Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon. By Monday evening, 24-hour rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected across much of the Watch area, although locally higher amounts are possible. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Watch for flash flooding means there is a potential for rapid onset flooding based on current forecasts. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation and may impact areas that do not typically flood. Flood Advisory issued July 13 at 3:12AM EDT until July 13 at 6:15AM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC * WHAT...Nuisance flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...North Central Burke County in western North Carolina... West Central Caldwell County in western North Carolina... * WHEN...Until 615 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. High flows and rises to near bankfull on smaller streams and creeks... especially on Wilson Creek. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 310 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen in just over an hour. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
