Flood Watch issued July 12 at 11:51PM EDT until July 13 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes and Surry, Virginia, including the following areas, Appomattox, Bedford, Bland, Campbell, Carroll, Charlotte, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Halifax, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Roanoke, Smyth, Tazewell and Wythe, and southeast West Virginia, including the following area, Mercer. * WHEN...Through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving showers with embedded thunderstorms will be possible into Monday. Rainfall rates of 1 to 4 inches will be possible in the heavier downpours. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 301 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to showers and embedded thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Brush Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Arnold Branch, Beaver Creek, Big Sandy Creek, Bee Tree Branch, Big Pine Creek, Bussels Creek, Big Warrior Creek and Big Bugaboo Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
