Air Quality Alert issued July 16 at 5:23PM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection - Air Quality Division has issued a Code RED Air Quality Alert Friday for the eastern West Virgina panhandle. A Code Red Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region are unhealthy for the general population. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors. If traveling, be alert for sudden changes in visibility. Reduce speed, increase following distance, and use low beam headlights when encountering dense fog.
